The December school holidays can often seem especially long to parents (and kids) alike. And many parents struggle to keep up with a flurry of activities and adventure that most children seem to crave during the summer holidays.
Thankfully, in and around Cape Town, we’re fortunate to have so many family-friendly attractions and holiday activities to keep the kiddies, tweens and teens entertained during the school break.

Slide through the Holiday Season at Canal Walk (6 December - 12 January)
If you missed the ice slides last year, then good news because Canal Walk’s incredible slide experience is back! And the ice slides will be around from 6 December to 12 January 2025
(although they’ll be closed on 25 December (Christmas Day)).
While these epic holiday ice slides are inspired by Disney, this year, they’ve focused on bringing “the magic of tropical islands and oceanic landscapes”, with a fun nod to the highly anticipated Moana 2 movie.

Young and old can enjoy the ice slides, with great discounts for family packages available too.
But there’s also fun sand play and Disney-themed activities to enjoy here! What’s more, there’s even a professional photographer on-hand to capture your slide fun.

Adventure at Playrock in Paarl

Located at Freedom Village, Paarl, Playrock is an exciting, new adventure park for families to have a blast at.
Playrock offers young and old the perfect mix of adventure, including an indoor playpark, a trampoline park, mini golf course, mini outdoor soccer pitch and even a lovely family eatery.

As they are open from Tuesdays - Sunday, they give families the perfect opportunity to visit during the holidays, especially if you have to work remotely while the kiddies play.
Although walk-ins are always welcome, it’s best to book in advance, especially on busy summertime weekends or if you wish to host a party here.

Book a Family-friendly Winelands Picnic
